Plaza Pizza® was established in 1971 in Newark, Ohio. In a town filled with mom-and-pop pizzerias.

Plaza Pizza® quickly distinguished itself with its homemade, traditional family recipes that generations of Ohioans came to love.

For the Claggett family, Plaza Pizza® meant birthdays, celebrations, and good times. When the original owners of Plaza Pizza® decided it was time to retire, the Claggett children came together to save this beloved Newark institution.

They trained extensively to learn the original family recipes that Plaza Pizza® has been serving since day one, and made a commitment to their customers that they’d continue dishing up the same great-tasting thin-crust pizza that originally put Plaza Pizza® on the map.

Following the successful expansion of Plaza Pizza® to Heath, OH, in 2020, the Claggetts are now seeking franchise investors to help them bring Plaza Pizza® to Americans across the States.

Family Owned and Operated

Many businesses claim to be family affairs, but few live that truth as authentically as Plaza Pizza®. From 1971 to 2019, Plaza Pizza® was operated by the original owners, serving scratch-made pizza from an authentic home recipe.

Today Plaza Pizza® remains family-owned and operated. The Claggetts — siblings Brian, Ben, and Olivia — have given the brand a newfound lease of life. Since taking over the business in 2019, the Claggetts have remained true to Plaza Pizza’s® zesty original recipe sauce and hand-tossed thin crust, while modernizing the business model and bringing Plaza Pizza® into the 21st century.

We’ve worked hard to create a playbook for new franchisees to open their own Plaza Pizza® locations. We provide the tools our franchisees need to make their businesses a success and take a hands-on approach to help new investors learn the ropes.
